Zaak Afhandel App

ZGW-aligned case handling for Dutch municipalities, inside Nextcloud — zaken (cases), defined status workflows, the work queue, tasks for staff and citizens, attached documents, and a record of every decision (besluit). No separate case system, no second login.

The Zaak Afhandel App is no longer actively developed. Its functionality has been superseded by:

  • Procest — process and case management for Nextcloud
  • Pipelinq — CRM and pipeline management for Nextcloud

What is the Zaak Afhandel App?​

Zaak Afhandel App (ZAA) brings structured case handling (zaakafhandeling) into Nextcloud using Dutch government ZGW (Zaakgericht Werken) terminology and patterns. Case workers manage incoming cases from intake through resolution: assign tasks, exchange messages, log customer interactions, record decisions, and track every status transition — including opschorting and verlenging to suspend or extend a running case — all from within Nextcloud. It also exposes a ZGW (ZRC/ZTC/DRC/BRC) REST API surface so other ZGW-speaking systems can integrate directly, built on OpenRegister for storage, search, RBAC and audit.

Data model​

The taak, status, bericht, besluit, resultaat, and rol schemas that back this app are provisioned live in OpenRegister register 239 (zaakafhandelapp) — there is no register JSON checked into this repo yet. taak.zaak and status.zaak carry format: uuid + a $ref to the zaak schema so FK values resolve to names in the UI instead of rendering raw UUIDs. bericht, besluit, resultaat, and rol were added directly via the OpenRegister API (register 239's schema linkage was updated in place) to stop their detail pages 404'ing on a missing collection. Follow-up: codify these six schemas as a register JSON file in this repo so schema changes are version-controlled instead of living only in the running instance.

Getting started​

Install the Zaak Afhandel App from the Nextcloud app store or enable it in your Nextcloud admin settings.
